WHO: The Children's Music Museum Upstate/Greenville.
WHERE: Marsh Music Exhibit at The Children's Music Museum Upstate/Greenville, South Carolina.
WHAT: Under the art direction and storytelling/narrative of MCG, I was tasked with illustrating the interior walls, character design, music instruments, front sign/logo, and a giant gator harp music instrument of this educational musical exhibit.
Marsh Music is a premiere music-focused exhibit on the museum’s first floor. The exhibit introduces children and families to music and instrumentation in a hands-on and immersive way. This new exhibit tells the story of a typical day in a magical South Carolina marsh for “Froggy”, a curious and excited young frog. Froggy travels through the whimsical exhibit, guiding children to interact with instruments that playfully teach musical concepts, while also spotlighting local culture and regional environment.
Children and their caregivers can play a banjo shaped like an alligator’s mouth, tap bongo drums designed to mimic the backs of turtles, and play the Joia tubes, a unique percussion instrument that creates harmonious sounds.
